Inclusive thrift has officially arrived at The Curvy Corner Boutique — curated, fashion-forward, and rooted in celebrating real-life curves.
The Curvy Godmothers who ensured you absolutely slayed your bridal season are turning that same energy toward the vintage realm as we welcome inclusive thrift to our Port Jefferson location in 2026.
Something old? Something new? Maybe. But these Curvy Corner thrifts are pristine in their prime — and still serving something bold, something true.
Body Inclusivity Isn’t Just On-Trend — For Us, It’s On-Brand
Body inclusivity has always been the heart of our mission — every rack, every fitting, every time we’ve ecstatically asked a bride-to-be, “Are you saying yes to the dress?” -–that’s been built around fit, confidence, and accessibility for women historically underserved in bridal, and beyond.
Though the wedding fashion landscape isn’t perfect, the past two decades have seen unbelievable strides in sizing, style, and body positivity. That said, the secondhand market has lagged behind when it comes to curvier bodies.
And since we love a good vintage (be it Pinot or Pucci), our 2026 resolution was obvious: revive retro.
We’re expanding our same boutique standards into inclusive curated consignment — think boutique polish meets thoughtfully priced pieces that are Loved Before, Made for You. And Because not all size-inclusive consignment shops are created equal, we’re offering exclusively vetted, enduring garments and seasonless staples that still have concerts and closets yet to be seen. Curated thrift adds a complementary layer to what we’ve always done best: intentional pieces, elevated standards, and genuinely fun shopping. Boutique and thrift now live side by side — different sources, same taste level.
The Thrift Gap: How We’re Connecting What Exists to What Actually Fits
Thrifting has long felt like a treasure hunt without a map. According to ThredUp’s 2023 Resale Report, only about 20 percent of secondhand stores consistently carry extended sizing. It’s one of the quiet frustrations that makes vintage shopping harder for curvy shoppers.
So, we’re reshaping the experience — blending the thrill of the find with thoughtful curation, fair pricing, and community. Bringing clothes in for cash, finding pre-loved gems that actually fit, and swapping style with women who get it — all in one place.
For anyone bringing pieces in, there’s also the option to leave a little message tucked inside — a note for the next woman who’ll wear it. Share a story, a compliment, or just a wink of confidence for its next muse. It’s part of our Loved Before, Made for You tags — like a message in a bottle with expedited payoff.
The Girlies Are Shopping Differently — and We’re So Here for It
Between the convenience of Beyoncé’s Internet, the aftermath of lockdown, and the fact that everyone’s using PTO just to nap, shopping has become another task on the list.
The fitting-room gossip and iced-latte debriefs? Replaced with rolling the dice and simply adding a skirt to your online cart between eggs and dryer sheets. Not to mention the last time you grabbed something “cute enough” from your ‘ol reliable- mass-produced-outfitter, it went on to star in three accidental “who-wore-it-best” moments at work. Serving looks shouldn't be this stressful. Curvy babes en masse are over it & editing: Trading chaos for curation and cluttered closets for collections.
We’re not here to cancel your last-minute hauls or Prime-fueled impulse buys — life’s still lifing — but The Curvy Corner is your antidote: a place to slow down, browse, and remember what shopping can feel like. Thoughtfully priced, well-edited, and built around the size diversity secondhand shopping rarely delivers.
When you’re shopping intentionally or just looking for something unique and cool, consignment is always a wardrobe-reviving option. But while modern retail is finally catching up to real-life sizing, the secondhand space has lagged behind — until now.
Thrifting That Feels Good — and Fits Better
Thrifting isn’t a panic purchase; it’s a vibe shift. It’s tactile, transportive — the kind of retail therapy that makes you present. Maybe it’s that nubby ’70s tweed that still smells faintly of good perfume and bad decisions, or the perfectly worn ’80s leather jacket that hums with rock-show energy. Every piece has a story — and at The Curvy Corner, you get to add your own.
There’s something extra special about thrifting when the odds of finding a perfect fit are finally in your favor. Every rack holds one-of-one treasures — silhouettes that hug, fabrics that move, and pieces that feel personal the moment you try them on.
Consignment with Curves at the Helm, Fit at the Center
Thrifting is exciting on its own — but here, it’s reimagined as something more intentional. This is a boutique run by women with curves, shaped by lived experience and real expectations around fit, comfort, and confidence.
Shopping here isn’t just about what you find — it’s how you feel while you’re finding it. Whether you’re craving a quiet moment of solitude with your earbuds in and phone on DND, or you’re in your full main-character era with your social battery charged and ready to browse with friends, this space meets you where you’re at.
Because if Sex and the City and Insecure taught us anything, real bonding doesn’t just happen over cocktails — it happens between racks, in beauty aisles, and during errands that somehow turn into therapy sessions. Fashion becomes the backdrop for friendship, self-expression, and reinvention.
Our consignment and exchange events channel that same energy — a modern-day retail salon where community and confidence meet, and great clothes are simply the conversation starter.
Thoughtfully edited, sustainably chic, and built for the bodies that used to be fashion’s blind spot. Now, they see us in 20/20, baby!
The Truth About Plus-Size Thrifting (and Why It’s Been So Damn Hard)
If you’ve ever wondered why your size section feels smaller — or nonexistent — you’re not imagining it. Here’s what’s actually happening behind the racks:
Extended sizes are underproduced to begin with.
Most mainstream brands still manufacture far fewer pieces above a size 18, which means fewer items ever enter the resale ecosystem in the first place.
Only about 20% of secondhand stores consistently carry extended sizing.
Even as resale continues to grow, size inclusivity hasn’t kept pace — making thrifting a longer, less reliable hunt for curvier shoppers.
When something fits well, it stays loved longer.
Curvy shoppers tend to hold onto pieces that truly fit and flatter, which means fewer high-quality items get re-circulated.
Sizing inconsistency kills trust.
Between vanity sizing, shifting brand cuts, and a lack of industry standards, tags become unreliable — especially when you can’t try things on.
Resale algorithms favor straight sizing.
Trend-driven resale platforms tend to surface straight-size inventory first, while inclusive pieces are harder to find and often marked up when they do appear.
Decades of underrepresentation compound the problem.
Limited design focus and marketing for plus-size consumers over time means the resale pool starts smaller — and stays smaller.
That’s the reality — and exactly why connecting what exists to what actually fits isn’t just helpful, it’s necessary.
Closet Therapy: Why Passing It On Feels So Good
There’s something freeing about opening your closet and letting go of the “someday” pile — the dress that defined an era, the jumpsuit that made memories, the set that still smells faintly of SPF and confidence.
You don’t need to purge everything. Just pass on the pieces that deserve another chapter. When you do, you can leave a note for the next woman who finds it — a small reminder that style is meant to be shared.
That Feel-Good Find: Why Discovering It Feels Even Better
Shopping here feels less like scrolling chaos and more like curation with soul. Each rack is a mood board — boutique polish meets secondhand personality.
And because every piece carries history, finding one feels like inheriting confidence from someone who wore it well before you. When you style your find, tag it with #CurvyCornerThrifts or #LovedB4Made4U — connection looks good on you.
