Betty and her girlfriend Geo have been together for over 10 years, growing from college sweethearts into life partners. Their relationship has stood the test of time and trials, blossoming into a deep and unbreakable bond. This October, they’ll finally celebrate their love with a wedding that marks the start of a new chapter. Geo isn’t just Betty’s partner, she’s her best friend, her confidant, and her forever person.

The Panic & the Pandemic: How Betty’s Strength and Resilience Shine Through

Life threw some serious curveballs at Betty when she was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2020, right in the middle of a global pandemic. But true to her warrior spirit, she fought hard—and today she’s three years cancer-free. She’s not only the caretaker and heart of her family but also a survivor whose courage inspires everyone around her. Her journey through illness and recovery has made her appreciate every moment, and now she’s ready to have the wedding of her dreams, the celebration she truly deserves.

Her sister Karla beautifully summed it up in her nomination:

“Besides being my best friend/older sister (we're just 14 months apart) and the caretaker for our family, Betty is a Cancer survivor and was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. She is three years cancer-free now and ready to have the wedding of her dreams, the one she deserves.”

Love, Fertility & the Ultimate Planning Challenge: Juggling a Wedding and Pregnancy in One Year

What makes Betty’s story even more unique is the exciting yet complex challenge she faces: she and Geo are beginning fertility treatments this year. Because of her cancer treatments, Betty has a limited number of eggs, and the clock is ticking. This means she’s planning for two monumental milestones—her wedding and a possible pregnancy—both happening within a very short timeframe.

Karla added:

“Because of her cancer, my sister [is in] the very interesting predicament of planning a wedding and a pregnancy in the same year! And needing a dress that makes her feel beautiful, but could also work if she is pregnant while wearing it!”

This delicate balance means Betty needs a wedding dress that not only makes her feel stunning but is also versatile enough to accommodate the changes her body may go through. It’s a challenge we are honored to support her with.
